Here’s the truth — it was a lucky find. A last-minute deal via Secret Escapes, booked just before the summer rush in early May. We arrived late in the evening, and I genuinely thought there had been some mistake. I’d never stayed in a luxury resort like this before. The moment I saw it, I couldn’t believe my luck — Saint John Hotel Villas & Spa felt like something from a dream.
Just a 10–15 minute drive from Mykonos Town, the resort is tucked into a cliffside bluff overlooking Agios Ioannis Bay. With panoramic sea views and total tranquillity, you’d never guess the lively streets of Mykonos Town were just around the corner. It’s the perfect balance: spread across 20,000 square metres, the property features 153 rooms, suites and private villas that cascade down toward a secluded sandy beach. Our room had a sea-view terrace draped in fuchsia bougainvillaea, and mornings with coffee overlooking the bay (and golden-hour sunsets) were nothing short of magic.
You truly can’t go wrong with Greece — but I think staying outside the main town is key. It’s peaceful, relaxed, and away from the daytime crowds and cruise ship drop-offs. Saint John offers a shuttle into town each evening, which was ideal, or a private luxury taxi service for getting around during the day. It made it feel effortless — just the way a holiday should be.
Would I stay again? In a heartbeat.
